Synopsis

According to Navajo tradition, even lightning has a path to walk. Daniel Sanchez is on a path to destruction, but when his drunk stepdad ends up in jail for stealing a car, circumstances compel him to spend the summer with his Navajo cousins in the rural mountains of New Mexico.

Ramona Morgan and her family live on a self-sustaining farm where she gathers herbs for mountain tobacco, and milks her own cow. Her Navajo grandfather has taught her to live with hozho, the natural rhythm that keeps the world turning. Ramona loves her life and the animals she is able to work with every day.

One day Ramona’s father makes an announcement: Daniel, their cousin by marriage, is coming to spend the summer on the Morgan farm while his step-dad goes to rehab.

Daniel is hurting more than he lets on. His mother has recently passed away, his step-dad is drinking himself to death, and Daniel’s own choices are leading him to destruction.

The Morgan family’s humor, compassion, and perspective begin to reach Daniel. Although he can’t control his circumstances, Daniel’s learns he can control himself and make the world a better place.
